5.0 out of 5 stars Compact and well present
Nice size, can be easily carried around. Well written with plenty of useful information. I used it to plan a walking route from Tian'an Men square to the Hutongs and it was very practical. Recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Need Two Guidebooks!, 6 May 2011

This review is from: DK Eyewitness Top 10 Travel Guide: Beijing (Paperback)
The strengths of this book are that it's compact and the 'top 10' lists make it easy to plan your trip and not miss any of the highlights of Beijing. The laminated map is hardwearing and convenient too. On the downside, it doesn't give you all the info you need (opening hours, entry fees etc) and nor does it go into much detail.

Therefore you need to buy this book AND the Lonely Planet Beijing. I used Top 10 to identify where I wanted to go, then read Lonely Planet to get background and work out the logistics and then carried Top 10 around in my bag while exploring.

5.0 out of 5 stars Usual DK guide, pleasure to read, visually pleasing, 24 May 2011

I love DK guides, they are always a pleasure to flick through, and require no commitment other than opening up at a page and getting a feel for a place.
Like all DK guides, the Top 10 Beijing is impersonal compared with wordy guidebooks. But, if like me you only had time to flick and pick on a brief visit in between business meetings, this is perfect.
