This review is from: An Introduction to Systemic Therapy with Individuals: A Social Constructionist Approach (Basic Texts in Counselling and Psychotherapy) (Paperback)
Ignore the title this is a great introduction to systemic ideas full stop, not just for work with individuals. It introduces complex ideas in a readable way with clear clinical examples. An ideal book for anyone training in systemic therapy.

4.0 out of 5 stars okay, but curiously silent on solution focused brief therapy, 9 Jan 2010
This review is from: An Introduction to Systemic Therapy with Individuals: A Social Constructionist Approach (Basic Texts in Counselling and Psychotherapy) (Paperback)
A nice and well structured text up to the point where the use of the future is described. Any family therapist would be able to see solution focused brief therapy as a major part of this turn and yet in this text it is completely downplayed- curious.

I would recommend this book, if you are beginning to study systemic therapy, or even if you just want to learn more about these type of ideas.
It is written in language, which I think most will be able to grasp. It gives good basic and foundational language and offers a grounded view into the theoretical framework.
I am in my first year of systemic study and have been able to grasp the ideas quite readily and also use these for references.
A particular advantage which is also useful is the fact that it is written for and acknowledges those persons who do not have the advantage of working within a team and are practicing in this way alone.
A good foundational text.
