4.0 out of 5 stars Intelligent and witty, Aaronovitch takes on the conspiracy-delusion peddlers and is (mostly) on target
You can be reasonably confident in advance that a book will be worth reading if it has conspiracy theorists in rant-mode and foaming with indignation: a raw nerve has obviously been poked. Such a book is David Aaronovitch's `Voodoo Histories' which exposes the delusional ideological framework at the heart of conspiracy-theorist psychology.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor and unoriginal
David Aaronovitch provides a patronising and unoriginal theory of his own - that conspiracy theories are just that and people pursue them to find some kind of comfort in their lives. Get real!
There is no great thought as to the wider world of conspiracy theories and this book leaves a dyspeptic aftertaste.
If you want to be patronised by an author that at times...

1.0 out of 5 stars Voodoo Histories, 8 Jun. 2009

I just couldn't make head nor tails of this book - very hard to read. My conclusion is that it's really just another opinion with regard to conspiracy theories and was all out to dismiss all of them. It was not written from an unbiased point of view. I was hoping to get a book that would weigh up 'evidence', to enable you to make an informed judgement, but it did not do that.

4.0 out of 5 stars Conspiracy Theories Debunked, 27 July 2009

This book thoroughly debunks many of the Conspiracy Theories which have abounded throughout history. Anybody who is stupid enough to think that Diana - Princess of Wales was murdered or that the Twin Towers were blown up by the CIA should read this book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pick and Mix, 10 Mar. 2010

David Aaronovitch is the most insightful, reasonable, and convincing columnist in Britain today. With a few words or half a sentence he skewers the fallacies prevalent in society, and makes fools of the ignorant. I was cheered when I found out my favorite columnist had written a book about my favorite bugbear: conspiracy theories. Unfortunately, his brave and forward style is not suited for such dry material. I suppose he was in a bad position. On the one hand he could use his skills to give us all an entertaining look at all the fools out there, but then he would be subject to criticism that he didn't address their claims. So he does address their claims. And though the evidence he presents is overwhelming against this nefarious crew of conspiracy theorists, it makes for dull reading. Over and over we find out that the 'experts' they trot out have hidden agendas or are not experts at all, or usually both of those. It's all rather sad and pathetic. He does prove each of his cases. But do we have to go back to the Trotskyites? You can skip those chapters you aren't interested in. Only in the last chapter does he get the measure again, analyzing the psyches of these people, normal people in our midst. You can see them ranting in these reviews. He's got a better book somewhere in him.

1.0 out of 5 stars Professional Liar, 17 April 2011

Aaronovitch links 'conspiracy theorists' with the idea of "hating the Jews". Wrong. Some people really hate LIES and the LIARS who tell those treacherous (and treasonous) LIES.

Unfortunately, far too often, the LIARS in question do turn out to be Jews (like DA himself). Ordinary Jews are the greatest victims of the lies of DA and the power he represents.

He debunks nothing. 9/11 is provably an 'inside job'. By physics and by chemistry. Everyone knows since they started to walk that bumping into stationary objects slows you down. This universal principle is formulated as The Law of Conservation of Momentum. On 9/11 pancake (floor-on-floor) collapses took place with, effectively, zero deceleration. THIS IS PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE whatever this LIAR tries to tell you. The Law of Conservation of Energy was also violated (if you accept DA's favoured 'official' conspiracy theory). At free-fall speeds there was NO ENERGY available to turn hundreds of thousands of tons of concrete into talcum-powder sized particles of dust, nor break up the steel frame into 30 foot lengths.
In 2009 two professors found nanothermite, a military-grade explosive in the WTC dust. This is the kind of evidence, in a proper court of law, that no amount of Aaronovitch LIES could possibly circumnavigate.

Unfortunately, he was funded to write this book by the owned media, part of the criminal financial system responsible for such crimes. All the better that he is a Jew and can use 'antisemitism' (a defensive wall protecting 9/11 criminals, most of whom, the available evidence (unfortunately) indicates, were Israeli Jews) in this foul way.

Apart from the fact they describe with chilling accuracy what is going on in our world, 'The Protocols of Zion' are recognised by many Jews and writers like Solzyenitsyn as genuine. Who says they are not? Why, the international bankers-owned mass media. The media is dominated not by 'ordinary Jews' but by organised Jewry, a true menace to mankind and their own 'lesser brethren' (who they are happy to sacrifice when it serves their diabolical purposes).

The truth, unfortunately, is that we are held in a vice-like grip by a power that can only be described as 'Satanic'. Organised Jewry, organised freemasonry and bought souls have ensured that the power of this entity persists....but it will not do so forever. Evil will destroy itself....but not before degenerate LIARS like Aaronovitch, who has zero interest in the truth and whose sole interest is is impressing on we dumb sheep a bankers' agenda, have cheer-led us into another few disastrous wars.

Look to unchallengeable scientific fact before you believe ONE WORD that is written in our controlled media about anything that matters.
