If you are new to the Canon system, or want the real low down on your 5D mkiii - this book is a must! Lots of real tips, great diagrams and screen shots, written in an easy-going understandable style. The manual has it all, but this books lets you understand what the manual is saying and when to use the features.

I have a couple of Idiots Guides for my 5D but I am using you tube now more than the books.

In the main, my issues haven't been with the 5D they have been with my photography skills. It isd a decent reference guide in a font that can be read. I have been checking the "how tos" on Youtube and then using this to find specific settings on menus. The canon layout isn't intuitive

For £12 you are getting a decent reference, printed on proper paper and with some hints and tips. My view is that you could be a fantastic photographer but you may never find the settings you are looking for without some help so it is

I cannot recommend this too highly for the intended audience.
To understand why, please see my comments on the author's companion volume -- his Field Guide to the same camera.
The "Field Guide" is inevitably cut down in coverage so that the book remains portable. But the much larger (and heavier!) Guide covers everything I could have hoped for.

The 5D Mk 111 is a great but complicated camera. This book gives much more than the Canon manual. Its not full of jargon and has a practical approach to making the best use of the cameras unbounded potential.

Perfect in-depth descriptions on all aspects of the EOS 5D Mk 111. David Busch doesn't seem to miss anything out and no one should feel their camera is a mystery after reading his books.

Had his copy of 'David Busch's Canon EOS 5D Mark II Guide to Digital SLR Photography' & after owning a Canon 5DII for nearly a year I couldnt believe how much more I learnt about the camera. Well I purchased this one 'David Busch's Canon EOS 5D Mark III Guide to Digital SLR Photography' before I purchased the camera body & read it for a week before I got my little mits on the camera. There is so much to know about the these latest DSLR;s which you just will not get from the manual. Apart from the information its so much more comfortable to read a full size book than a miniature!!!

This book really fits the bill for me in that, all the operating procedures of this camera are set out clearly and explained simply and concisely. It's a reference book that you can dip into when you need to, and so far, it's never failed to reveal an answer to any problem. I'm glad I bought it.
