5.0 out of 5 stars Insightful, Honest and Fun to read, 17 April 2014

This review is from: How Gangs Work: An Ethnography of Youth Violence (St Antony's Series) (Hardcover)
Unlike most academic books in this area (as a youth worker, I've read a few) this book is really down to earth and comes up with real examples of why people get involved, get hooked and perpetuate gang culture/mentalities. Its also not a heavy read. I can tell the author has reeally invested his own time in understanding both other academic views and the views of gang members on both sides of the Atlantic. A must read!
