This is a beautiful book with some interesting history of the Hamptons and wonderful photography. However as a cook book I was not as impressed because the recipes are largely assembling ingredients with nothing that really stands out other than a good squash soup and a couple of vegetarian main courses. Otherwise she tells you how to scramble eggs (and not well!) and put them on toast! Do I need a lavish book for this? So it's great for curling up with and dreaming about the Lauren's enviable homes and lifestyle but not much use as an inspirational guide to entertaining. For that splash out on Martha Stewart's new entertaining bible and see how it should be done!
