I am familiar with the work of Richard Hoagland and Mike Bara who pioneered this subject so I was looking for something new from this more recent publication. Whilst it revisits much of their work for the benefit of those new to the subject it does show a lot of photos I hadn't seen before. None of these are conclusive of course or NASA would not have released them, but they are intriguing nonetheless. There are some good ideas about possible liquid water on Mars and about the reasons for the cover-up. A useful addition to the genre, especially for those unfamiliar with the subject.

I first came across this subject about 25 years ago long before the internet allowed for mostly debunking attacks on it. I've been following this since mid-eighties, i've read a lot of crap about it pro and con but i always thought that what was missing on this fascinating mystery as a good introductory book on the theme.

The market now has a really good share of good books on it , but mostly are too eager to try to present the "evidences" in the most scientific way possible in a few pages and so most books tend to be a bit "artificial" (haha) when they should be about what the public is looking for. And what the public is looking for is not abstract mathematical proof that could only be verified but experts but we want to see peculiar recognizable "day-to-day" anómalies instead. Fortunely nowadays cool anomalies is something that is not lacking on Mars. True , there's still a lot of ridiculous crap among all the the stuff that circulates on the internet but if you dig real well and spend some time within this topic you might be surprised to find out that the initial premise is not as ridiculous or farfetched as the mainstream (mainly american mainstream) scientific community wants to keep depicting it.

The problem with this Martian theme nowadays too is that it has so much info and cross-referenced data available that for someone who comes right in into this subject without any prior backround only has two choices...either you go back to 30 years + of independent analysis and research on it; read all the books, papers and articles (and even some wacky websites too), start to cross reference yourself spreading what's interesting from what is purely ridiculous and sometimes pure desinformation and end up where i am now with an opinion based on actually doing a serious following of all the controversy over the years... OR you turn on the news or watch the Nasa/Mainstream sponsored typical documentary where someone , usually "an expert" tells you that it's all a big fantasy and conspiracy theory for lunatics entertainment.

If you go for the first option, you have a lot of catching up to do, if you go to the second option then there's nothing more here to see and this book is not for you.

BUT there is a third option. Although there's some trully excelent books writen over the year on this, like Monuments of Mars by R.Hoagland, The Mars Enigma by Hancock and a few others more, up until now there wasn't much choice for the person who came in fresh into this polemic subject.

This is where the Secret Mars: The Alien Connection comes in. Its not perfect, but it's a start.
It could have had at least 500 pages more and still be incomplete but nevertheless this book is an excelent introduction to the Mars controversy and ancient alien theory which tries to deal with it in a serious , but above all simple way.

Very well writen, topics well organized and with even a couple of new things to discover even if you are like me and read a lot over the years on this already.

Highly recommended to anyone who comes in to this subject now without any pre-conceived ideas. Pro or against.
Buy it now. it's really good.

Another good one is Ancient Aliens on Mars by Mike Bara which reads almost like a more detailed complement piece to this work now and if you're interested on this you should get both.
After you get aquainted with the subject you perhaps can move on into more hardcore works like Monuments of Mars. But ...read this first. Trust me.

As for the arguments pro and con on the subject, im open to everything. Its a fascinating theme and there are tons of data on it available all over. Do your own research before judging the validity of the ideas based on mainstream views.
Above all have fun.

This book is an excelent introduction.

In this genre of books we are looking for evidence of intelligent life on planets. It is relatively easy to remove items or add them by photoshopping pictures and we have learned NASA is tampering their photos. By googling the picture on page 180 I received the NASA picture shoving the same marks of a ruin and they do not look photoshopped. The size of the ruins is unknown. Nature does not make several 90 degree angles. If we trust the picture, ancient et life on mars is confirmed.

This is an unusually open-minded book. The author is no wild-eyed conspiracy theorist, but someone who genuinely wonders why NASA doesn't send it's explorers to places where there may well be signs of life (like Cydona). He reproduces a number of photos - taken by NASA exploration robots, themselves - which show objects that do not look natural. At Cydona there seems to be an eroded 5-sided pyramid, but there are a lot of smaller objects elsewhere, for instance, an open rectangular box or what looks like a broken piece of sculpture. On top of that, he also reproduces photsos of what looks like vegetation - but probably isn't. and what may be open water. What I liked about the text which went with the water photos is that he actually provided a credible explanation of how there might be open water on Mars.
Read the book with an open mind - then decide whether you agree with him!

Interesting and provoking ideas. Once everybody believed the world was flat. That seems ridiculous now. Prior life existing on different worlds....surely not!! The paradigm will change eventually and these ideas will become accepted knowledge. The Human race is not the first but one amongst many.

More evidence that we know little of the truth, the glaring info comes from official replies and no replies from straightforward questions, when you see that side it's laughable, but you only have to see most of government speak to understand that. Big money rules very clearly.

I was first sceptical about aliens or E.T's but reading this book as made me think more open-minded. The evidence produced through photos which, I may say, are detailed and in places, enlarged to see and points made to get you thinking. Why NASA spent so much on Mars projects and then give us little information or information we already know? Well, this book reveals and explores aspects which NASA won't express upon.

If you are wondering what all the fuss is about Aliens on Mars or the Moon then read this book. As the author points out he is a layman and this book is for those who may have only a passing interest in the subject. This book will wet your appetite.
