5.0 out of 5 stars A Story of Rare Depth and Beauty
Not many books move me to tears, but this one did on several occasions. Sometimes through sadness, other times through joy, and occasionally through both simultaneously. The main character and narrator, Eve Hayes, is a young woman with Down's Syndrome living in Northern Ireland in the early 1970s. The skill with which the author has created Eve - telling the story through...

Wonderful, I have added to my book recommendation list on my site [...]
However, I would love the book description and review above to be re-written. Individuals with Down Syndrome are not 'afflicted' by it, not is it a 'disorder' and it does not define them. Eva is a woman with Down Syndrome not a Down Syndrome woman. Person first so to speak.

5.0 out of 5 stars Original and thoroughly enjoyable, 13 Jun 2012

This review is from: The Silver Mist (Paperback)
Thoroughly enjoyed this book, in fact at the time I wished my train journey was longer so I didn't have to stop reading it! From the first paragraph the style was so engaging that I was instantly hooked. The characters were well drawn out and I loved the unique way the main character, Eve, showed the reader a different perspective on the storyline.

3.0 out of 5 stars Irish troubles and Downs girl ??, 13 April 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Silver Mist (Kindle Edition)
Took a while to get into this book. Down's girl who experiences the other side. Irish troubles and side stories of her family members woven in to story/troubles. SAD book. It's not for everyone. I persevered but can't say I enjoyed it.
