4.0 out of 5 stars Very helpful if a little wordy
As I am approaching the 40 mark, I have been planning to do my mid-life crisis properly, so purchased this book to help.

And it has helped: asking biblically searching questions it reveals that many of the symptoms of mid-life crisis can be seen in more definable, clear categories and so we are able to negotiate many of the dangers associated with this period...

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
The book can be summarised as follows:
1) It is all your fault.
2) Things will be better in heaven.
It is repetitive too.
My advice would be - do not bother reading. Sadly, there is little quality Christian literature that covers this subject.

Well I brought thinking there would be new insights. Nah! All old and tried and obvious answers. I has hoped for a more full discussion on overcoming spiritual dryness and keeping one empassioned for mission but nothing new really. Over rated.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very helpful if a little wordy, 9 Mar 2009
This review is from: LOST IN THE MIDDLE (Paperback)
As I am approaching the 40 mark, I have been planning to do my mid-life crisis properly, so purchased this book to help.

And it has helped: asking biblically searching questions it reveals that many of the symptoms of mid-life crisis can be seen in more definable, clear categories and so we are able to negotiate many of the dangers associated with this period of life. Some of the questions are uncomfortable because, in answering them, one realises that frequently blame cannot be shifted elsewhere: we can and should deal with these issues, and so prevent hurting ourselves or others in the process.

Highly recommended - it's just a tad wordy and could have been 50 pages shorter without losing the content. But it's worth it for the sense of hope and assurance the book radiates.

5.0 out of 5 stars finding my way.........., 3 Jun 2011
This review is from: LOST IN THE MIDDLE (Paperback)
Tripp is a great author, really speaking to the heart. He includes a good balance of practical examples to learn from. My advice is to read this slowly, making notes as you go along. It is not just relevant to people in mid-life; everyone can learn from it.
