4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Place to Start
This was my first book on tube amps by Gerald Weber.
I have since bought two of the others in this series and find him the most readable and understandable author for a newbie to electronics building.
You`ll not only get an idea of which exact amp would be right for you, but even which version.

I have completed a copy of a `57 Fender Deluxe thanks to...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not quite what I expected
If you are internet savvy you can obtain all the content of this book, as virtually all of it is freely available. Plus you tend to print the diagrams off as A4 size, whereas the book's format is considerably smaller, making the diagrams harder to read. It is handy though rather than a pile of A4 sheets.

It sounds absolutely wonderful.

This book gives you circuit diagrams, how-to`s and a comprehensive appraisal of the strengths and weaknesses of most every major "classic" valve (tube) amp design for guitarists and bass players.

Especially useful are the comments about shortcomings in the original designs and of course the extras like the Trainwreck pages and Geralds own columns from Vintage Guitar magazine.

Well worth the money.

This is a super book with loads of the right kind of info, with very easy to understand explanations with loads of great information and tips an abundance of circuits and mods. This is a great book that you can keep in the workshop and refer to, it covers a great deal of makes with circuits for them which just on their own are worth the price of the book.

I have to agree with the previous review, an excellent place to start, lots of good info, and a good reference book to dip into again and again.
Even an experienced amp geek will find a lot of good stuff herein.
