Without a doubt my favourite travel biography. Isabella Bird was some character! Evelyn Kaye's excellent intermingling of her own biographical writing with numerous excerpts from Isabella's letters brings Isabella to life. The book gives a fascinating picture of the many countries through which Isabella travelled. While on holiday I read the book aloud to a relative with sight problems. It was a highly entertaining read and provided us with many laughs (my husband and son also being interested to listen to the next instalment).
I have given the book in a present to several people and their verdict has always been the same - what a suberb book!
Why is this book only published in the USA?
