Beautiful book with loads of new images from the fantastic tattooist, Angelique Houtcamp. I have her previous book 'Tattoo Darling' (Which is also worth a look!) and this book compliments it well. 'Tattoo Mystique' contains more photographs and images of Angelique and friends, showing off her eccentric personality and a glimpse into her lifestyle. Plus it's still packed with her beautiful artwork and tattoo designs. Not everyone's cup of tea but for fans of her work this book is a must!
A woman who has entered a man's world and recreated it according to her acute vision. Taking the basic imagery derived from a sailing narrative she has reworked the inked images to provide them with a feminine flourish without descending into the usual clichés. Also incorporated into the book is an insight into Angelique's lifestyle and personality. So we get more pictures of the artist and her surroundings. These add to the book as she appears to be a picture in herself as she provides an insight into a non pretentious lifestyle.
Her imagery is primary Art Deco in style with glimpses taken from Betty Boop and Josephine Baker without deriving anything from either in terms of wholesale incorporation. So she appears much more playful than the gloom ridden depictions of skulls, dragons and beasts set to devour the world. Angelique's imagery operates at another level, a little more sophisticated in its artistry. The 1920's appear as a constant motif, a time just after and just before the storm.
Within the text she also details why people approach her and what she can offer - primarily markers for the big events in peoples lives; births and deaths. You get a taster of a world about to come.

Stampa e rilegatura di ottima qualità, i contenuti del libro sono ottimi, come l'altro della stessa Angelique.
Interviste all'autrice e diversi disegni dai quali prendere spunto per i tattoo.
Avrei gradito una maggior quantità di disegni ed anche una maggior varietà, il libro merita comunque ed acquistarlo non è una spesa eccessiva.
Ottimo rapporto qulità/prezzo.
