This review is from: Bantams Over Wembley: Bradford City's Miracle Season (Paperback)
Great read fro Bantam fan
The season that really was a miracle
The book is well written and covers the whole season, the highs of getting to wembley and the drop in form after the cup final, when it looked like we would not make the play-offs.
The the great recovery and the final wembley trip that gained us promotion.
Not only a good read but a documentation of all the game that you can look back on in the future

4.0 out of 5 stars A memento of a glorious season, 11 Sep 2013

This review is from: Bantams Over Wembley: Bradford City's Miracle Season (Paperback)
Bradford City spent two seasons in the Premier League but following their relegation at the end of the 2000-1 season they had been in steady decline. The 2012-13 season was to be their sixth in the basement division of the Football League and when the season kicked off in August City supporters simply hoped for a decent season rather than expected it; we had had too many disappointments to be overly optimistic about our chances. We knew that our manager, Phil Parkinson, knew his stuff but failure seemed to be too deeply ingrained; City had only just avoided the drop down to non-league football the previous season and the players seemed to be a dispirited bunch who had grown too accustomed to defeat. As it turned out 2012-13 was not just a good season for Bradford City, it was a miraculous season, as they not only achieved their ultimate goal, promotion to League One, but they also reached the final of the Capital One Cup and played twice on the hallowed turf of Wembley. This book is the story of this dream season, as BBC Radio Leeds' Bradford City correspondent Dave Fletcher gives a brief report of each game, helping the reader relive the twists and turns of City's campaign.

This is a book for Bradford City supporters and for Bradford City supporters only as I cannot imagine it being of much interest to supporters of any other club. Indeed, if I have to be critical I should point out that there is not much in this book that will be new to the average City watcher; there are no revelations or any stories that have not been reported elsewhere. Instead this book is purely a memento for the City supporter of a glorious season, a keepsake of the season when we regained our pride and finally stopped the rot. Hopefully this book will turn out to be not just the story of a great season, it will be the story of the season when City started our rise back to our rightful place in the Football League.

Up the City!!

I enjoyed the book very much as it brought back many memories of the 2012-13 season - Wigan, Arsenal, Villa, 2 trips to Wembley .... Cannot see it having much appeal beyond the bounds of Bradford though.
