it really pains me to say this but this is a terrible terrible terrible book. the previous one FREEDOM RHYTHM & SOUL i cannot praise enough. it is a great visual treat. showing so many albums lost forever otherwise.
stupidly i thought this was an extension of that. it is not. it is like a christmas annual for kids. two pages per artist for a not bad but not stunnig photo [there is the odd good one of course] of a great jazz guy or jazz combo and a small pointless bio [it is 2014 folks have you not found wikipedia?] no one needs these potted bios. NO ONE. and nothing else.
great front cover some good photos of all great jazz musicans but only buy this if it's less than 2 quid in THE BOOK STORE. it is a stinker extraordinaire which really bums me out to say. i love what these guys do to keep this wonderful music alive - the dedication to the thing is inspiring. i will chalk this up to a bad move made and it was too late to stop it before anyone realised how pointless it was gonna be.
