I love this book! The activities and lesson plans are really helpful and have given me a lot of ideas for my own lesson plans. The photocopiable worksheets are good, perhaps just missing a bit of colour, but obviously not everywhere has access to a colour copier anyway! The real star of this book for me is the grammar section. It's clear, simple and easy to follow - even for the biggest grammar-phobes! I would reccommend this book to anyone who's starting out as an EFL teacher - it really will give you more confidence!

I bought this hoping for new ideas and activities that I could pull out at the last minute, lessons plans that would refresh my own. However it really is for beginner teachers so I returned it. Much of the book is given over to grammar explanations, so if you're new to EFL teaching, and/or haven't done a CELTA course this will be a useful resource. For more experienced or CELTA qualified teachers it's unnecessary - the Cambridge Handbook series is better.

I bought this for a friend who is about to embark on her first TEFL trip. She tells me its brilliant and the only book she now needs. It has lesson plans in it so helps take some of the guess work out of how to plan a lesson. She tells me it covers all the essential things you need to know and will not be buying another book.

Genuinely fantastic book. I taught English for a year in China and everyone in the staffroom was always checking out this book when they needed some help. It explains English grammar in a clear, practicable way that makes it easy to impart to students and that's probably its best feature.
Besides the wonderful grammar section, there's a good rundown of games + activities to play in the classroom but the strength of the book is definitely for those looking to fully understand the grammar they have to teach.

I am presently doing one of the i to i TEFL courses. James Jenkin is a director of the company. Where was he when I needed him years ago at school? This book is an excellent resource when starting out on a new rather scary career. Thank you James.

I've chosen this book,as I'm a TEFL, to have more ideas to put in practice in class.
Explain very well how activities should have been conducted, of course is just a guide, but very well designed.
I would recommend this book.

has some good ideas but not the easiest book to find what you need in - and doesn't cover very young ages (I was teaching Kindergarten and most of the activities were too advanced for them)

Lots of info for the new teacher. I think it gives a lot of good ideas to make a start at teaching the foreign student.
