4.0 out of 5 stars Not a bad at all, 5 May 2013
Really not a bad introduction to Node.is and associated technologies. Not exhaustive but does a good job of introducing Node.js and various node modules that can be used to create network applications.

If not updated the modules referenced in this book will become outraged or even obsolete. Make sure you search for alternatives to the modules mentioned to establish if a more complete/current solution is available at the time of reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exceptionally well written, 26 Oct. 2014
This review is from: JavaScript on the Server Using Node.Js and Express (Web Development Topics) (Paperback)
Chapman has presented the material excellently - incrementally / progressively introducing concepts throughout the book. His explanation of Javascript prototypes / constructor functions alone is worth the price of the book many times over. I say this, as his way of explaining these fundamental concepts is very unique (as compared to the other material/books I have read). His explanations make it very difficult to "forget" concepts learned (very important while learning JavaScript - where things may seem "clear" one day & get all muddled up the next ..).
Even though this book is "old", I would strongly recommend it - if nothing else, at least to solidify your foundations.
