This is Mark Howard's jumps equivalent of his "Ahead on the Flat". As one who is gingerly risking a toe in the water of betting on NH racing, having stuck with near religious devotion to the flat, I feel confident that this will prove as valuable as a long succession of the flat guides have.
It seems that there is a shift of emphasis this year, perhaps owing to less than sparkling returns last year. Here stress is laid very much on horses racing in the higher grades and largely those stabled with leading trainers. This might be disappointing to those who prefer a more diverse approach, but as one who feels that the higher class races are more competitive and less likely to be used for working down the handicap or as simple pipe-openers, I think I shall prefer this emphasis. In any event Mark Howard's books are vital to any half serious punter, indeed to anyone with a keen interest in the sport.
