Fun and educational

It's not often that you get a fun architecture book. From experience they're mostly pretty dry - so I was really excited to see a book aimed at kids as well as adults. As an introduction to the joys of architecture, this is fantastic - with nuggets of information but plenty of room for imagination, it gets kids thinking about architecture in an engaged way. The illustration is beautiful - I've seen Thibaud Herem's work elsewhere and it can be quite serious, but here he uses a looser, warm style, and the writing has a warmth to match (not that there's that much of it). It's also pretty good value for money. I paid £10 and I'd say for the size of book, it's a very fair price.
It's not for little ones - probably a bit to sophisticated for the under 8s, but for older kids, and for architects in need of a little bit of fun to remind them why they chose that career - this is the book!
