The Cotswold Way National Trail Companion proved to be an indespensable guide with its detailed route information and list of accommodation options and information on tourist offices and luggage carriers. Any one planning to walk the trail will find this guide essential for all aspects in preparing and arranging and getting to and from the trail.

I bought this book thinking it would have details of all the facilities available along the route.

But it effectively only lists hotels and B&Bs.

It has no details about shops and supplies so I don't know if I can buy fuel for my trangia or backpacking equipment, spares or supplies in any of the towns the Cotswold Way passes through.

The accommodation listings could easily be obtained by a simple google maps search !!!

Very disappointing.

No this isn't a detailed but an overall route guide. However it does list all the key contact details (telephone numbers, e-mail addresses, and where applicable websites) for each town, including pubs, B&B's, Taxis, giving 2009 pricing and details of what facilities are available at each entry. Furthermore it advises whether the B&B, pub or hotel is on or off trail, and if off trail by how far, as well as providing OS Grid references for all entries. If you are planning to walk the Cotswold Way this is a brilliant planning guide, and carry in your day sack as it has all necessary contact numbers, emergency and otherwise.

Hello Amazon!

The Companion sent to us in June 2013 was a 2009 edition which meant that many of the B&Bs were no longer active - up to 50%.
Please stop selling this book unless you see to it that this information is updated.

Best regards
Susanne Midtiby

The map is no good, there are no info on how to find the starting points on each trip leg and the info available in the book is easily available from other sources. We ended up not using it.

I was disappointed with this book as its really just a list of accomodation. I expected more info on the actual walks. No help at all.
