5.0 out of 5 stars Just What The Doc Ordered,
This review is from: The Part P Doctor: Second Fix (Paperback)I would agree totally with the other reviewer, it is a great book to have near you for simple yet professional advice. It is written by an electrician and no some boffin just out of university, which explains in both diagrammatic and text format, also on many pages there are highlighted red text explaining myths about different situations i.e. "you must fit a spur units above work tops to supply under cupboard sockets"
I will leave you purchase this excellent book to find out the answer on page 34.
I have just pasted my 17th Edition and starting a new venture in this profession, with about another dozen other books for reference. But this book is possible amongst the top of my list for easy of use and understanding. It relates to all the items you might encounter on the job from installation, through to testing and recording, joining a self-cert scheme, certification, special locations, and all the other stuff, all in good old layman's terminology.
My advice to you when this is available I wouldn't hesitate to order it, as it is very popular judging by it being out of stock so quickly!!
Many thanks to Alan Lynch for some good old fashion easy to read helpful literature.

5.0 out of 5 stars Plain English,
This review is from: The Part P Doctor: Second Fix (Paperback)I am studying to gain my Domestic Electrical Qualifications and have purchase eight books that cover various parts of this subject. I can say of these books that I understand a bout 75% of what they are trying to teach you, the rest of it goes right over my head. Why! because in places they do not use plain English, but choose to use high tech language!.
Then I purchased the "Part P Doctor" Second Fix, which I have to say is the only one of the eight books that I have purchase through Amazon. That I have writen a reveiw for, and why is this, well its quite simple, you can under stand 100% of what he is trying to teach you about the subject. Why is this ?, well that is quite simple, because he takes the high tech language and turns it into good all PLAIN ENGISH and he uses lots of diagrams to explain further what he wishes you to understand.
5.0 out of 5 stars Read before and after your Part P exams,
This review is from: The Part P Doctor: Second Fix (Paperback)Part P testing and certification made simple. Of especial note is the myth busting paragraphs, they are invaluable to a practising domestic installer who is self certficating his/her work. The writing style is very simple and plain with little or no embellishment - ideal for when you want a simple answer. I can't praise it enough after being qualified for five years myself :) Buy and enjoy knowing you have done a good thing to keep your clients safe.

5.0 out of 5 stars Part P Simplified,
This review is from: The Part P Doctor: Second Fix (Paperback)A great book for demystifying domestic electrical regulations. The book is written in a way which clearly explains installation and testing techniques. Highly recommended.
5.0 out of 5 stars This is what you need - Alan's very straightforward guide to Part P,
This review is from: The Part P Doctor: Second Fix (Paperback)I did a short Domestic Installer course to allow me to legitimately do electrics with my kitchen fitting work but I was never happy with the very limited amount of testing we did on the course. I tried to build up my knowledge by asking a couple of sparkies that I know for advice but understandably they did not want to give away all their hard earned secrets, and so to back this up I bought loads of books, most of which were highly technical and gave very little real world, practical guidance, and I thought that there has to be something better available out there. Well the good news is that Alan's book is it - Alan gives you his thoughts in a very clear, straightforward and honest manner - he is not out to baffle you with science just to help you do the right thing, and even though some of his photographs could be a bit more polished and the cover could be a bit more robust, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who has taken or is planning to take a Part P/Domestic Installer course. Five stars *****
5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome,

5.0 out of 5 stars Part P Doctor,
This review is from: The Part P Doctor: Second Fix (Paperback)with in 10 seconds of geting this book i was turning pages, this is one easy to follow book ive been in the trade since 1985 on and off, and just needed a little check up on what i already new, or i thought i new lol, the book gives you a good insight to the Part P regulations. I would advise electricians and students to get this book as its a great help, even if you are just starting out, but you must use it in conjunction with the Regs and On-Site Guide i think he should do a commercial and industrial book next.
5.0 out of 5 stars Ideal for DIYers or pre electrical installations course.,
This review is from: The Part P Doctor: Second Fix (Paperback)I found this book excellent.
It is in plain English and easy to understand.
It is ideal for DIYers who wish to rewire as it talks you through every step-Even the legal requirements.
I wish I had this before I went on my part p course.
All in all well worth the money-I wish he did a more advanced book to progress onto given the way his knowledge is imparted.
