5.0 out of 5 stars an interesting read & good guide
Excellent guide book, well written, which describes each section of the Celtic Trail. Gives details about the track itself as well as local points of interest. Useful information such as bike repairs and accommodation along the way.

2.0 out of 5 stars Did they actually cycle this route?
There were points in this book when I really seriously wondered if the author had actually done the ride - it was severely lacking in the bits it needed not to be and was too brief to be of any real value.

Also because the route is only described in one direction the maps need to be much better. We cycled from Llanelli to Fishguard and didn't find the book very...

There were points in this book when I really seriously wondered if the author had actually done the ride - it was severely lacking in the bits it needed not to be and was too brief to be of any real value.

Also because the route is only described in one direction the maps need to be much better. We cycled from Llanelli to Fishguard and didn't find the book very easy to reference.

Can't really recommend it I'm afraid.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good general summary of the route with bonus extra route!, 21 Jun 2009
This review is from: The Celtic Trail: The Official Guide to National Cycle Network Routes 4 and 47 from Fishguard to Chepstow (Sustrans National Cycle Network) (Paperback)
When I bought this book I was looking for detailed maps and route info for the celtic trail. When I received this book (which is hand sized) i was initially dissapointed but on reflection what i was after would have been volumes and volumes of books.

The little book is a great overview of the trail from fishguard to chepstow and outlines each variation of the route. The maps are basic and cover large areas but it gives you enough info to find the route on a standard os map.

A pleasant surprise at the back of the book is the route info for the taff trail (again a basic overview) which was good.

In conclusion if you are looking for a general reference book on the celtic trail to give you an overview of the route then this is the right book.
