We took this book with us on a recent three night stay in Amsterdam. For the beer connoisseur it is an invaluable guide. From the moment we stepped off the train it led us to a range of interesting pubs, which had great European beers, fascinating interiors and interesting histories. We used it right across the city, and I don't think it led us to a duff tavern. A real highlight was the Nordic Hotel, with an interior taken from the captain's cabin of a 17th century ship, and the most delightful pub cat, Pino.
Skelton has researched well, and has chosen wisely. Descriptions of the pubs, beers and important features are clear and to the point. We found the pubs easily enough, but the maps were a little lacking in detail, and often we had to use another map in conjunction with the info in the book to find the required watering hole. 4 stars because of this. With clearer maps it would be a 5 star effort.
