5.0 out of 5 stars So pleased to see it back in print, 9 Nov 2004

This review is from: Numbers: Facts, Figures and Fiction (Paperback)
This book is excellent. It interests the reader in numbers. You can be between 5 and 95 to enjoy it. The facts vary from the useful to the unhelpful, the level of mathematics from basic to A level. All school libraries should have a copy. All primary teachers should use the facts from 1-31 to give an interest to the date. All secondary teachers should use it to excite students in the relevance of mathematics and how it is the science of patterns.
Best bit - pentagonal bolts in the USA.

5.0 out of 5 stars Numerical Nourishment, 13 Jan 2012
This review is from: Numbers: Facts, Figures and Fiction (Paperback)
This is a superb aid to mathematics teachers who wish to enthuse and enthrall their students and for all those who wish to have a reference book about number which is easy on the eye, easy to understand buut never light-weight, and always entertaining.
This book which had a period out of print is extremely well illustrated with photos and diagrams. It usually has two full A4 pages on every number up to 13, a page on the numbers from 14 to 42 and then a generous paragraph on every number from 43 to 200.
There is then a fact on every number from 201 to 999; and then information on a few large numbers such as 666, 1000 and 1729.
This is a most attractive and informative book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Light hearted reading, 4 Jun 2010
This review is from: Numbers: Facts, Figures and Fiction (Paperback)
Not a bad little read. Not very taxing on the mathematical side of the brain. I did find the size of the book quite uncomfortable to hold due to A4 format. Fun book to read and some fascinating facts. Not a serious read. Maybe it's not written that way?

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a MUST HAVE book for all teachers of Mathematics, 16 April 2000
By A Customer
This book brings numbers alive. It gives insights into how numbers appear everyday, how numbers help form patterns and the interconnection between types of number. It is accesible to a 10 yr old, yet provides challenges for all levels of Mathematics up to degree. It should be in every Maths teachers collection and ALL school libraries.
