5.0 out of 5 stars An interesting new voice in children's poetry, 18 Oct 2002
This review is from: Now You See Me, Now You....: Poems (Paperback)
Chrissie Gittins has a fresh and exciting approach to poetry honed by the experience that she has gained while working with children as 'poet in residence' in various London boroughs. One of the poems in this book 'Powder Monkey' has won the author the 2002 Belmont Poetry Prize in the category for poems for 9-12 year olds. My favourite poem is 'Punctuate that lunch you ate' which is one of a series which introduce the rules of punctuation in a fresh and funny manner. This is a book for schools and parents alike. Unfortunately, my own children, who are now adult, are too old for me to read these poems to them at bedtime but I will certainly keep them to read to my future grandchildren. In the meantime I shall enjoy reading them to myself over and over again.
