My nom-de-plume will give you a clue as to why the cover picture tempted me to buy this book. Oh dear.
The opening lines of the poem "Water";
"There are many days in Glasgow when the rain will fall
on Bath Street and the precincts of Sauchiehall.
Boots, waterproofs, rainmates are the mode
and umbrellas are rife on Dumbarton Road".

The great pity is, when she is not in thrall to - and going to extraordinary lengths to achieve - the blessed rhyme, she is capable of genuine wit and some truly interesting imagery. Her hand-drawn illustrations are also quite charming.

But, from the poem "A Thoughtful Cat";
"Philosopy she leaves to Nietzsche
for sadly she has no power of speech".
Enough said, I think.
