5.0 out of 5 stars Teaches you that bullying is not mangement, 10 Jun 2004
By A Customer
Bully in sight made me aware what was happening to me and some of the other people I worked with. It made it clear that bullying is not management. I finally took a stand after 2 breakdowns and took my employer to court. The result was 7 managers joined her and ganged up to eliminate me. I managed to get all this recorded and left a massive paper trail. The result was my company paid me to leave when they realised that I could clearly show that they victimised me. (This is why I am anonymous).

Bully in sight tells you what bullying is, it tells you how to prove it, it gives you some ideas on how to play the game and who to ask for for help. It informs you why your colleagues will disappear and why grievance procedures don't work. It gives you an idea why you are suffering from stress and other weird illnesses when you have never been ill before.
The only downside is the law section is a bit out of date but you can buy an employment law book to help you with that.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Book. Strongly Recommend, 21 Nov 2004
By A Customer
My own personal copy is nothing more than a sea of highligted text. There isn't a scrap of padding in this book, concise and well written, it is for anyone who has an uncomfortable feeling about their treatment but is unable to articulate it. It will clearly layout you are not going crazy and best of all provide practical realistic advice and strategies about what to do - it will make you see what you are going through is not your fault but of the person who perpetrating this terrible behaviour towards you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hope for the Trapped, 26 Jan 2002
By A Customer
I have been following Tim Field's work closely since 1998 - visiting his ever-evolving Web site weekly. I read "Bully in Sight" from cover to cover twice. It provided me with invaluable and indispensable help in coping with stalkers and bullies. I have dedicated the last 5 years to the study of the Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD). Most narcissists are bullies. Few have captured the essence of bullying and stalking as Tim has. His work has given hope to many - the trapped and desperate victims of bullying, harassment and stalking. His book and Web site should be the first stop on the road to recovery and healing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, informative and a real eye opener, 31 May 2007

(REAL NAME)
I am in the process of going through the traumatic fighting back stage, of being bullied at work. I have gained a lot of comfort knowing what I have said or done so far has been the right thing. I wish I had bought the book years ago, and Tim Field is right, the pen is mightier than the sword. The book is very informative, well researched and valuable in the aid to understand what has been happening to you and why. If you have empathy to customer needs, have high standards of work, popular with everyone you come in contact with, work hard and do a good job, then if you only read one book in your life time, let it be this one. The book has valuable information you can't live without.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book literally saved my life., 14 Jan 2001
By A Customer
'Bully in Sight' literally saved my life. My workplace bullying experience left me face down on the floor in despair and with a feeling of total and utter worthlessness. Tim Field's book title says it all. Unable to concentrate due to severe stress breakdown and PTSD, I was able to flick through the pages of this book and easily pinpoint relevant tables and prominently flagged information which, within minutes, assured me that I was not alone and not to blame for my demise. Tim Field guided me effortlessly towards the unmasking of a dangerous female who fitted the profile of an unrecognised sociopath. For the first time in six years of unrelenting harassment from this arch bully and my collaegues, I was able to fit together the pieces of my bewildering jigsaw of workplace abuse. I recommend this book to each and every employed person in the land. I have sent three copies to my previous employers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best book on bullying available, 11 Sep 2008
Tim Fields book is absolutely excellent and I have used it on numerous occasions for clients who are being bullied at work. I work as an Executive Business and Life Coach and work with clients in the health arena. The many clients I have worked with who have been bullied, this book gives them insight and hope and reassurance they are not mad but being violated and abused at work.

The clients who are stressed out, burnt out and bullied out have their "eureka moment" once they get through the first few chapters, seeing the shift and refocus is truly humbling as a health professional of many years.

There are a number of books out there on workplace bullying but this one is the rolls royce and continues to be so. The website is also an extraordinary support for those recovering and those enabling others to move forward and regain their personal power.

Tims analysis of the actual bully and behaviours is spot on, the cause is multifacted and clearly identifed in the book - a gift for anyone who has been bullied and for their loved ones who are sometimes the forgotten carers.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT BOOK, 22 May 2008
Our department functioned really well until a new chief executive was appointed and within a short time things turned for the worse. A week or so after telling her secretary that she felt like smashing her face in for her, the CEO arrived to work with a black eye and a swollen face covered in a medical pad. She was absolutely raging mad. She summonsed the personnel officer to her office and blamed the injuries, which she had incurred in her own home the previous evening, on her secretary. Could things get worse? Yes...this was just the beginning... the secretary was sent to another area of the department to work in an office junior position, then it was my turn. After being seriously overloaded by this woman, who insisted that I was related to Paula Radcliffe because I was toned (which clearly aggravated this very un-toned woman), I was criticised without foundation. I went off with stress, totally confused about the situation and I spoke with a Clinical Psychologist who said that what was happening in the department was "bullying", by a person who, from my description of her behaviour, likely had a serious behaviour problem. I then set about and purchased this brilliant book, and could not believe that our positive working environment had been turned for the worse by the text book bullying that I read about. After highlighting this behaviour to our personnel officer, who relayed it back to the CEO, I was then sent to another area of the department and denied a job for a year... by this time I was finding the behaviour fascinating and I was just there for the ride of the experience until I was squeezed out of the department altogether (on the grounds of my job being made redundant after moving a friend and colleague into it!)... It was interesting and reaffirming when I met a senior officer from the department who said that I, and named others, were "targets" of the CEO.

A staffing survey was undertaken at that time and the guy who undertook it met with me and thanked me for being so brave in detailing to him what was happening... he said that from the responses he had had that it was evident that the department had a serious case of bullying, but would be unable to name the bully in his report in case I took a case out against her! Funny how that survey was buried on the grounds that there were not enough responses... clearly there were enough responses for the guy to ascertain the problem.

The bullying goes on to this day in various guises but, as described in the book, people are too scared to do anything. I recently purchased this book for an x colleague who is confused by what is happening to them... Again, this book will do the explaining! Thank you.

5.0 out of 5 stars No other book helped me as much, 8 Jan 2001
I have been a victim of workplace harassment and bullying. I read absolutely every book on the subject I could get my hands on. Then I came across Mr. Field's book. This book aided me in my case like no other! No other book has spelled it out so clearly. No other book gives such a detailed description of what harassment entails, as well as sound advice on how to deal with it. I have shared this book with my attorney and he is using it as a reference in my harassment case. Once finding this book, I have had to search no farther. This book includes ALL the info you will ever need to avoid bullying or build a case in the event that you have been harassed. Thank you Tim for making your book available to those of us in the USA. We applaud you for a job well done! Shelly, United States.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you only ever read one book..., 13 Oct 2006
Most people bullied at work do not realise it until they read this book. Ten years after its initial publication, it is still the definitive guide to gross and unfair treatment at work. If your workplace is like something out of a "Dilbert" comic strip, but is anything but funny, Bully In Sight has all the answers.
