As with the other volumes (I have read volume 1, I just didn't review it because four other people had) this is excellent in its clarity and readability. If you ever wanted to know why the Renaissance and particularly the Reformation were so important then this is a good place to start. Nick Needham effortlessly guides the reader through just what happened and why and introduces us to fascinating characters such as Martin Luther, John Calvin and John Knox, all of whom were major players and helps us to understand why. This give clear insight into the opposing doctrines and once again gives the reader access to the major thinkers and their writings at the end of each chapter. As such the writer can't be faulted, in my opinion, in his presentation of this important period in church history. I can't wait for volume 4 (which the author has assured me is coming out soon)!

An excellent account of Church History. A scholarly work that is intermediate between the A level and Graduate reader. It aims to comprehensively cover the subject and present it in the words of the historical role players themselves.

Recommended for any Bible student's library. A moderate and balanced account of the history of the Christian Church.
