5.0 out of 5 stars A yoga classic. Although perhaps not for everyone, 30 Mar 2011
This review is from: The Synthesis of Yoga (Paperback)
This is quite simply a classic work, written by a genius. When I discovered Sri Aurobindo I was so grateful to find many of the answers I had been looking for - an explanation of the mechanics of spiritual transformation. But I don't think this book is for everyone. Sri Aurobindo has a quite distinctive style of prose that some people find off putting and you would have to be quite an experienced spiritual seeker to make sense of some of his language and terminology. Another factor, that may or not be relevant, is that this work was originally a series of articles for his journal Ayra and it does read that way - as a series of articles rather than a book as such. If you are new to Sri Aurobindo you may want to start with one of the collections which group selected writings around common themes and ideas. If you want to inspect the work more closely, this book and all of Sri Aurobindo's work is available online, free of charge, from the Sri Aurobindo ashram website.
