This review is from: The Pursuit of Prime (Paperback)
What is interesting about this book is that even it is relatively old the information still applies to organisations now. The author defines how organisations evolve and dissolve in series of ten stages:
1. Courtship
1.1. Dreaming and making a commitment to a dream
2. Infancy
2.1. Shift from ideas and possibilities to results
3. Go-Go
3.1. Everything is seen opportunities, sometime too many opportunities
4. Adolescence
4.1. Dealing with uncontrolled growth
5. Prime
5.1. This is when everything comes together
6. Stability
6.1. At this stage the eagerness of its early stages is no longer seen
7. Aristocracy
7.1. Leaders are relying on the past to carry them into future
8. Recrimination
8.1. Focus is on who did something wrong rather than what went wrong and how to fix it
9. Bureaucracy
9.1. Survival is based on regulated environment
10. Death
10.1. The organisation dies when it cannot generate the cash it needs
