This book is detailed but fascinating, wise without preaching, informative without overload, complex but explained simply - and generally, full of grace and patience. An amazing testimony at the start leads us to understand Dr Stewart's story, which is engaging and real (an image of a curious young chemist almost blowing up his parents' house is so amusing) and starts the reader on a journey into a new realm of understanding. Frequencies, therapeutic vs fatty oils, French, German and English use of essential oils, how they're formed, sesquiterpenes and DNA, genetics and administration - all are included here... Clear writing, crafted carefully into economic phrasing but full of description and life...a pleasure to read! For anyone interested in Essential Oils, worth every penny...

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't be put off by the 'God bit' on the cover!, 13 Mar 2014

I thought I would be put off by the religious aspect, but I wasn't; it doesn't intrude in a bible-bashing kind of way, at all. This is an excellent book, full of integrity. Being a person who was scared of chemistry, having never done it at school, I am finding it really gripping now! The pace is just right. There's a lot of info about essential oils and their quality and a useful critique of the available aromatherapy books. The author has his own opinions and is not afraid to share them. This is more a book geared to the French school of aromatherapy, where oils are taken internally and in other ways, and not to the British 'massage model.' Stewart does a lot to dispel the fears that essential oils are dangerous beasts that need taming ... he is not a fan of Tisserand's book on Essential Oil Safety, for example. But I found his reasoning to be different and sound and certainly worth a look. And then, there's that chemistry! It's a big book with clear large print, making it easy to read. Recommended.

FANTASTIC!! What else can be said of this book and its author. I have the other book about Essential Oils written by this man. He really does write as though he is talking to you face to face, and makes it all sound so simple! Well, God does make things easy to understand if only we will allow ourselves to stop thinking things have to be complicated to be the only way to be correct for us. It takes courage to write and publish works that give the honour to our Creator. I hope many more people will purchase this man's works - and that includes Doctors and other health workers. We don't need all those chemicals when God has placed the cures for our ills within nature itself. WAKE UP you professionals, use these oils alongside your cures and you will have so many grateful patients.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Informative book - Highly recommended for anyone practising or with an interest in Aromatherapy, 23 May 2014

For any person interested in or practising Aromatherapy I would say this book is a must!! It's so well written, clear, concise & with the authors infectious personality shining through every page, I can't put it down!! I was dubious about how 'simple' chemistry could really be - especially when I saw the thickness of the book & bearing in mind I haven't even looked at a periodic table since I was at school. But, the Author has succeeded in making chemistry a lot easier to understand and he realises too the importance of the knowledge contained in this book with respect to the Aromatherapy Industry. This is an invaluable book & it will be one of those that remain with me as a reference book for years to come. Thank you to the author!!!
