5.0 out of 5 stars Radical approach to history, 18 Dec 2008
This review is from: The Jewish Revolutionary Spirit: And Its Impact on World History (Hardcover)
This vast book takes as its starting point the division in the Gospels between the Jews that accepted Christ and those that rejected Him. From here Jones examines the Spirit of rejectionism that has done such harm to the Chosen People and others. He traces the history of how rejection of Christ, and the moral law which finds its ultimate realisation in Him, has given birth to various revolutionary movements through history right up to the neoconservatives and the 'War on Terror'.
The thesis is controversial, but then most profound subjects are. This is an honest book, not anti-Semitic as some would claim, but honest about Jewish-Christian (particularly Catholic) differences. Ultimately this book is aimed at healing rifts and refocusing Christian-Jewish debate. Such is its importance that it will be of great interest to secular readers too - there is much fascinating historical detail to savour here -Jones has uncovered much little-known historical data. On top of it all, in spite of it all, is extremely readable (despite occasional repetition).

5.0 out of 5 stars The tragedy of the Jewish people, 11 Nov 2009

This review is from: The Jewish Revolutionary Spirit: And Its Impact on World History (Hardcover)
This is a magnificent book.

Jones tackles the taboo subject of the Jewish problem, without hatred, his duty as a Catholic. He is careful to distinguish between racial anti-Semitism which he rejects, and religious anti-Judaism.

Jones tells the traditional, ie pre 1960s, Catholic story of the Jews. God chose the Jewish people to bring Jesus Christ into the world. But when the Messiah appeared the Jewish priests, realising he was the Messiah, nevertheless rejected him. They did this because they did not want to lose power. This is of course the sin of sins.

The priests then created a new religion, through the Talmud, to control the people. They certainly did not want their followers to jump ship to the new religion, Christianity.

Thus the Jews since the murder of Christ are in rebellion against the Law of Moses and the Torah, the first five books of the Old Testament. It is this spirit of rebellion and rejectionism that propels Jewish people towards revolutionary movements throughout history.

Jones chronicles the Jewish revolutionary spirit through two thousand years of history : from the revolts against Rome to communism, the Western cultural revolution of the 1960s and the neocons of today.

This book is a feast of history with thirty-two chapters and more than a thousand pages of smallish print. Just to give you a feeling for the book I will list some of the chapters :

Julian the Apostate and the Doomed Temple
Rome Discovers the Talmud
Reuchlin V. Pfefferkorn
Thomas Muentzer and the Peasant Revolt
John Dee and the Magical Transformation of England
Menasseh Ben Israel and the Failed Apocalypse
The Rise of Freemasonry
The Revolution of 1848
The Trial of Leo Frank
The Spread of Bolshevism
Revolutionary Music in the 1930s
The Second Vatican Council Begins
Folk Music meets the Civil Rights Movement
The Neoconservative Era

Did you know that Jews financed the English Glorious Revolution of 1689? Jones found a Jewish source for this--the Jews were scared that James ll would turn England back to Catholicism.

Just to show Dr Jones' genius...
I enjoyed a little chapter about Philip Roth's "Portnoy's Complaint." Jones says the book was read by college educated, third generation Jewish "immigrants", whose fathers had made their money in the clothing business. I have an old photo album which contains a photo of my then teen sister, c1970, reading the book. My sister and I are third generation "ethnic" Jews living in England. We both went to college. My father made his money in the clothing industry. Bingo!

If you want to understand the mystery and tragedy of the Jewish people, and I think many people do, this is the book to read.

Have a look at Dr Jones' site for more reviews and information.

5.0 out of 5 stars Controversial, 31 May 2012
This review is from: The Jewish Revolutionary Spirit: And Its Impact on World History (Hardcover)
I do enjoy reading Michael E Jones books. However, this is probably the most controversial book Jone's has ever written and is the most controversial I've ever read. The thesis is the Jews are the cause of revolution in society and the destruction of moral society. I'm not sure I can go with this thesis to it's logical end point because I don't believe there is the evidence. Put this book in the wrong persons hands and it could result in anti-semitism. I don't believe Michael is an anti-semite, but simply believes because the Jews rejected Christ therefore they are the enemies of Christianity. It is a good read, but I feel Michael may have taken one step too far? But does he have the right to write the book? Of course. I actually enjoyed his e-book Jewish Nazi's more and that is no less controversial. I did feel uncomfortable writing this review as I did reading the book, however, is that about media control or just the books anti-semitic? It was just that phrase, the Jews worship nothing that goes through my head or even as Nietzche said, 'God is Dead.' I am a practicing Catholic and from my review I don't quite know what to make of this book, but may be the clue is one can only purchase it at a reasonable price from Michael's web site.
