3.0 out of 5 stars No-nonsense BCG Standards Book, 12 Oct 2012
By
This review is from: Genealogy Standards: Fiftieth Anniversary Edition (Paperback)
It does what it says on the tin - details what the BCG standards are. I would recommend it for any genealogist who is trying to do things the "right" way - if only so that they can see what all the fuss is about (and then make up their own mind on the detailed approach to take when researching family history). Personally, I found much of it very "motherhood and apple pie", lots of it is pretty vague and the reporting methods are somewhat out of kilter with the fluidity of ongoing research; but the appendices provide good examples of what the BCG thinks is "right" and do illustrate the type of analytical investigation and reasoning which is (I believe) at the heart of good genealogy.
