'Reiki Fire' is a classic amongst Reiki books. Most people read it early on in their Reiki journey, and I was no exception...Knowing little about the subject, I found it engrossing, inspiring and pleasantly down to earth. Frank Arjava Petter writes with an affable enthusiasm for his subject, drawing on his own life experiences to demonstrate the power that Reiki can have in your life, if you let go and allow it to work.
So, several years down the line, I find myself buying and reading it again (my own copy having disappeared on a very longterm, probably permanent, loan). I'm delighted to say that it still inspires me. The 'fire' that Petter predicted has certainly spread throughout the world, and along with it a plethora of genres of Reiki and associated books.
What I really like about 'Reiki Fire' is the lack of self absorbed pseudo-spirituality which pervades so many New Age and alternative books. Reiki is actually very straightforward - certainly it can be dressed up in all sorts of ways - but Arjava describes it in its pure form. His research into its history is legendary. Before 'Reiki Fire' all sorts of outlandish folklore was rife (and accepted) as to how Reiki was re-discovered. Petter's very thorough research in Japan blew many of these myths out of the water, much to the chagrin of some steadfast upholders of the 'old' stories. Well you can't please all the people...
So whether you're just setting out on your own Reiki adventure, or, like me, you've been treading the path for a while, I'd thoroughly recommend 'Reiki Fire' as an essential text. Trust me though - put your name in it.

What a breath of fresh air for the disicpline of Reiki this fine work from Frank Arjava Petter represents! Not only does he scotch many of the myths and invested misinformation floated by some sections of the Reiki world, he opens abundantly the possibilities for spiritual expansion within the practitioner. Reiki Fire steps ahead of the possibilities offered by W.L. Rand with its broard spiritual vision, clearly showing that the personal development of the Reiki practitioner is his first duty. BRAVO FRANK PETTER!! This book is a must!! Anand Neehar Reiki Master

Given that Reiki is not something that can be learned from a book, most Reiki books contain basically the same information, re-hashed in various ways. "Reiki Fire" is the only book I've come across that is genuinely ground-breaking. Frank Petter's research into the origins of Reiki is authentic and enlightening, and really puts the current political squabbles over lineage into perspective. Quite apart from that, it's a first rate practical Reiki manual, covering everything you need to know. The author shows a deep level of spiritual understanding, and gives some valuable insights and wise guidance. The book is a fairly slim volume compared to some, but only because it is clear, concise, and free from waffle. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone. Rebsie M, Reiki Master

Frank Petter's books are extremely practical. They present the history, philosophy and practice of Reiki in an unfluffy and empowering way. He explains complex matters clearly and accessibly, yet manages not to trivialise or oversimplify. I found his writings about the best there is on Reiki - slim books, yet containing more riches than many other larger books stuffed full of pretty pictures on the subject!

This book strips away much of the nonsense that has accumulated around modern Western Reiki and gives us a fascinating history of this most powerful healing art. In the short period since it was published this book has transformed the way Reiki is being taught, we can only speculate on the effect it would have had if it had been published ten or twenty years ago.

Mr. Petter's book has given more "flesh to the bone" - the pices of the Reiki puzzle is falling into place. Very interessting reading - and this book feels like it really tells the trouth about Reiki in the West and Japan. I read it with great enthusiasem and it was a pleasure to upgrade my knowledge through Mr. Petters book. Together with Mr. William L. Rand's book "Reiki The Healing Touch" I consider these two books to be the very best about Reiki Healing, written in the spirit of the Reiki Enegy, and with the greates respect for Reiki - with love and light from Kari - a Reiki Master in Norway

If you are a Reiki Practitioner you'll love this book. Mr. Petter has thoroughly researched Dr. Usui and Takata's background and gives basis of the whys we do Reiki the way we do. Sometimes we practitioners get caught up in the 'right' technique and forget the big picture (or purpose. Mr. Petter helps us remember why we are Reiki practitioners and teachers!

There are books on Reiki flooding the market but none I have read are as serious as this one, which I regard as the best one I have read so far. Most of the others focus on the chakras and the healing aspects of Reiki, without going into the spiritual heart as this one does.

An excellent book, a little serious in tone, but then it goes deeper than most.

This is an excellent little book, written from a personal perspective, but with a general appeal. It gives more information about the origins of Reiki, and background information about Dr Usui, which the writer has gathered from archives and talking to people descended from Dr Usui's students and colleagues. Though quite a slim volume (126 pages) it is packed with information which is very easy to read and understand. It would be ideal for beginners who know little about Reiki, but also provides interesting reading and ideas for more advanced practitioners. A lot of common sense and practical information - nothing 'off the wall'! It is a good all round manual in a slim volume, and excellent value for money.

This is a book we have been waiting for so long. Frank Petter have got to know and understans the reiki and what its all about. Read it, if you are a reiki practioner, if not, read it anyway. He also tells the story of Dr. Usui that no master in the west have ever told it befoure.
