5.0 out of 5 stars Details of every camera Kodak made between 1888 and 1988., 11 May 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Kodak Cameras: The First 100 Years (Hardcover)
This book sets out to give a comprehensive account of the cameras made by Kodak during its first 100 years. It succeeds admirably. Every camera is listed, almost all illustrated, and there are lots of additional details. Identifying and dating a camera is very straightforward.
This book is interesting for anyone who wants to understand the history of photography. For a collector, it's a must-have.

4.0 out of 5 stars Admirably Illustrated Catalogue - Still Cameras only, 25 July 2011

This book appears to include 99% of all Kodak cameras produced between 1888 and 1988. The big exception is that there are no Kodak cine or movie cameras. The Cine Kodak Model A came out in 1923 and the last Super 8 cameras appeared about 1975. I bought this book hoping it would include the Cine-Kodak cameras. Admittedly there is no suggestion that movie cameras are included on the front cover or in any description but it would have been nice too have had this stated. It is beautifully illustrated with photographs for every model (a few in colour) and the text is authoritative and concise. We need a study of the Kodak cine cameras though as I only know of four books covering them - "Cine Cameras" by John Wade (Shire Books), the same author's "Collector's Guide to Cine Cameras" and Jurgen Lossau's two mammoth volumes on all narrow gauge cine cameras.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for any camera collector, 8 Jan 2010

A very thoughtful and well organized and presented illustrated list and history of the Kodak camera products. It is very useful for any one interested in camera collecting, as the Kodak history more or less reflects the camera evolution. But it is really a must for any one particulary interested in the Kodak products. It helps identifying, setting chronologies, and evaluating, while it offers all the necessary technical and historical data. In a very clear way too. The illustrations could be of a better quality, but who cares? after all it's not meant to be a coffee table book, it is a serious and valuable tool.
