Mr Finn has produced a book covering some of the bare essentials of Seitei Jo, including the basic kihon and kata. The book is well illustrated with pictures, making it easier to understand the basic forms, although some of the illustrations are in the wrong order, confusing rather than explaining. There is a good outline of the evolution of Jo, but also some rather introspective personal anecdotes. As the kata are subject to review and change, some kata are no longer practiced as he illustrates. This book is helpful for beginners, but should not be used as a sole source for training - go to a good dojo, get current instruction, and then this book will prove useful for reminding you what you need to do in broad terms, until experience takes over.
