2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing read, 6 July 2005
This review is from: Forget Not Love: Passion of Maximilian Kolbe (Paperback)
This book takes very seriously the elevation of Fr Kolbe to the status of martyr. However, it typifies the worst of romantic writing in the Roman Church. Sadly, there are few facts to furnish a book this long and so the author pads it out with cursory accounts and quaisi-poetic styles which do no justice to the facts.
Fr Kolbe's death and life attest to no less than martyrdom - the sad fact is that this book makes his life seem relatively boring and mundane -it is a litarary experiment that reflects a hagiogrpahy of the 1950's.
A shorter book with more facts and less authorial interpretation would have bene more satisfying.
Sorry, but this book really left me irrate - but I battled through as St Maximilliam is one of my heroes and so little has been writtne.
