5.0 out of 5 stars The most interesting of the Provincial Lady novels
Having read all the Provincial Lady novels in succession this is my favourite. It gives a fascinating account of English life at the beginning of the war. It captures the anxiety as well as the frustration as characters wait for the war to beginning affecting their lives. Its a very funny but also informative novel that deserves to be more widely read.
