This review is from: Assignment in Utopia (Paperback)
Lyons is a journalist posted to the Soviet Union in 1928 and stays till 1934. He starts as a sympathetic supporter of socialism. However after witnessing the deliberate use of famine where millions die and the use of terror in everyday life. He leaves and returns to the U.S as a living witness to the horrors of socialism in power and wrote this book as his testimony of life in the Soviet Union. Fantastic book he takes you with him and his family right to the centre of power in Moscow and honestly tells how people lived and died under the socialist yolk.
