5.0 out of 5 stars REALLY, REALLY, REALLY a must read!
Having been a broker for several years and having read countless publications on the subject, I had become somewhat blasé about finance-related books. PIT BULL changed all that. From the moment I picked up the book, I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN!! While the markets were haywire in early January '99, I was in my building's lobby reading chapter-after-chapter of prose...

3.0 out of 5 stars A Great Bio but not Trading Coach Book.
This is a great page turner on the life of the Wall Steet trader through the late 70s to early 90s. A story about how this guy came for $100k stake to something over $10m in ten years. However if you ever wondered what the SEC or FSA get up to, you could read this book as a test to spot the illegal trades and illegal practices. I have two sons who work in the City and...

Having been a broker for several years and having read countless publications on the subject, I had become somewhat blasé about finance-related books. PIT BULL changed all that. From the moment I picked up the book, I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN!! While the markets were haywire in early January '99, I was in my building's lobby reading chapter-after-chapter of prose which I could only liken to the swings of the market. Marty Schwartz is a story-teller divine!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Autobiography about Trading for a Living, 3 April 1999
By A Customer
This book was exceptional and I highly recommend it. Rather than viewing the author as arrogant I would rather describe "Buzzy" as confident, driven, skilled, and possibly a bit eccentric; with good reason of course. There is probably no business more psychologically demanding than trading. Mr. Schwartz' outlines the nuts and bolts of trading and how it applies to real life. In addition to being humurous, aspiring investors will find this book insightful: a wondrous read.

4.0 out of 5 stars A well written story about the business of trading., 2 Sep 1998
By A Customer
This book was more interesting than the last three novels I've read. Schwartz has an excellent voice and lets you know what he really thinks. Trading can get alittle complicated but "Buzzy" brings you in the pit and explains what he did as if you were a human not a computer programer. This book taught me more about options and the stock market than my economics courses in college. I wish I could thank Mr. Schwartz in person for this great read. I'm sending this book to my father because he would someday like to be a "big swinging dick".

5.0 out of 5 stars Real insight into trading, 21 April 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Pit Bull: Lessons from Wall Street's Champion Trader (Paperback)
If you are going to trade your own money, and want to know what it feels like, then read this book.
he tells his story well and gives a valuable insight into his progress from novice floor trader to succesfull trader.
He tells the story of a guy who doesnt trade other peoples money, does not sit on a bank trading desk, but really lets you feel what it is like to take your own hard earned cash and start trading where every day you know wether you are a winner or a loser.
If you want to trade for a living full time using your own money then read this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yes, he's quite full of himself but..., 26 Dec 1998

O.K. Marty likes to brag. He seems like the type of guy you wouldn't want to have to sit next to at a dinner. But he has some redeeming qualities: he freely admits his trading mistakes and personal failings. The bottom line is that he's a sharp, hardworking guy who really has made a very good living trading and can help you do the same. This is actually one of the very few truly valuable books in this field.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential reading for traders, 9 Jun 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Pit Bull: Lessons from Wall Street's Champion Trader (Paperback)
I've read a large number of trading books in my time but never felt the need to post a review until now. Pit Bull is essential reading for traders, up there with Reminiscences. It's full of good advice and rules to follow but all distilled into brief paragraphs, rather than taking a whole chapter to explain, like most trading books do. The main points are have a plan, find a trading style and method that suits your personality, thoroughly prepare for each day, work hard, focus, self-confidence. If only it was that easy! But it is good advice and to be honest, it is the basics of what you need to know as a trader.

In between all the advice, there are entertaining and interesting stories about Schwartz's time in the market, which made me want to pick it up again and again.

I'll be reading this book again, very soon.
