4.0 out of 5 stars This book WILL affect you whether you like it or not there are no options once you start.
This is one book that has so many reviews in every country and every website that allows reviews and there is a theme in all reviews. There are two extremes, one camp thinks is poppycock and the other camp has had a revelation of how great Jesus is and how powerful the name of Jesus is, there are no in-between's. Hey, there were some instances in the book i was blown away...

3.0 out of 5 stars How Jesus has more power than the Devil in real life accounts
This book has been embraced and condemned by diverse sectors of the christian community. I gave it three stars as it is not a literary classic. However anyone who has dabbled, or is thinking of dabbling, or is in fact engaged in the dark arts MUST read this book....it not only gives an account of how a high ranking occultist found freedom after she realised Jesus was...

Hey, there were some instances in the book i was blown away and i probably need to read it again but it explained a lot of things especially is you have ever dabbled in the occult in any form even the 'simpliest'. I would not reccommend it for some new christian's but do take the warning that the writer gives at the beginning of the book seriously it is for real. Jesus lives

5.0 out of 5 stars MUST READ - This book WILL equip you for the BATTLE., 22 Sept. 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: He Came to Set the Captives Free (Paperback)
Dr. Brown reveals the schemes of satan and the demon spirits. She also gives you the tools for battle. Dr. Brown shares how demon spirits find open doors and how we, as Christians, must close the doors. She provides ample evidence in scripture for the weapons of warfare. Get ready for battle; satan will not want you to read this book. Put on the full armour of God every day - especially when you prepare to read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars From one who understands, 12 April 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: He Came to Set the Captives Free (Paperback)
This book was fascinating and useful in many ways but one way most of all, even for the skeptics is that if it does nothing else for you,it will make you think and hopefully search for answers as to it's truth.I personally was involved many years ago in some of the things Elaine was involved in and so was a member of my family, as well as some friends and what she says is the unsugarcoated truth. When I became so fearful [not because of pressure from any christian person, denomination or group of any kind in any way] and had many presences around me always, that I could sense the malevolence and evil intent, had continuous night terrors and nightmares and with this the veil fell from my eyesabout the things I was involved in.It took 6 yrs to finally stop being harrassed.I am now free through JESUS CHRIST.It was a fight for my soul and JESUS won as did I.Remember satans greatest weapon is disinformation that he even exists, except as some exostential force in nature. He hates all mankind, including his followers.Would you give your chidren everything they want even if it would harm them now or later? Of course not,if you love them!Such is the nature of GOD.This book however you may use it, is relevant because of its rawness and it is not a feelgood do what you want biography. No matter what you believe one day all will confess that JESUS CHRIST IS LORD TO THE GLORY OF GOD,WETHER THEY WANT TO OR NOT.You do not have to agree with all of this book, but that does not diminish it's value, especially to those with occultic experiences or backgrounds who are as I was, searching for a way out.comments his@oswego.net Jesus LOVESYOU!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars We Ignore At Our Eternal Peril., 9 Aug. 2002
By A Customer
The author's account of her faith and obedience filled walk with God and her extensive experiences in spiritual warfare must be read.
She herself openly declares that everyone should not take her word as the absolute truth but that everything she writes and it's context should be weighed and measured against the written Word of God in the Holy Bible.
It is against this that we should weigh her experiences and accounts, and nothing else. The latter is the final and only Authority in this matter.
Personal hostility towards the author is to be expected, but this too should be weighed against the same principles of Scripture.
I have read many books related to spiritual warfare and personally find the books by Rebecca Brown to be among the very best. The worldwide spread of Satanism and the occult is alarming and we need to be aware of what the Holy Bible says about dealing with this increasing menace. This is fully dealt with by the author.
We need to be aware of the depth of deception that is spread by Satanism even through the channels of the 'church' itself. This is a vast subject that we ignore at our eternal peril. We need to be aware of where the true Christian stands in these matters and the Authority and Deliverance available to them through the Word.
When you see other reviewers professing to be Christians whilst rubbishing the author and suggesting you read Stephen King novels to obtain more information about the devil, then you can see where these people are coming from. Even more so if you have read the books by Rebecca Brown.
Take care.

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME! EYE OPENING!, 25 Mar. 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: He Came to Set the Captives Free (Paperback)
I read this book for the first time in high school. God really opened my eyes to what battles really occur in the spiritual world. I too had some questions regarding who is this Rebecca Brown etc... I have prayed extensively about this, and feel at complete peace with this book. I do challenge the rest of you to pray and ask the Lord to show you the Truth in this book as you read it. I have tried sharing this book with a lot of my friends and family... funny how people seem to always have an excuse why they shouldnt read it, or "God doesnt work that way", or "It's too deep for me"... hmmmm... i have never felt such objection to one book before. Maybe because its TRUE??? And Satan DOES NOT want you to read this material? Sure its really hard to believe 100 percent, but pray...ask God to reveal to you in your heart what is right...He will show you! For me God has used this book to shake me up a bit and head me on the right track. I am just a normal average California guy who was heading down the wrong road. God has brought me out of the "Gay Lifestyle" and is totally bringing me closer to him. This book has shown me what a deception Satan has brought on us! Anyone involved in ANYTHING to do with the occult, no matter if its drugs, alcohol, sex homeosexuality, martial arts, witchcraft etc... take a second look at what you are doing! If you need to, take a third or a fourth look :) This book will not solve your problems, but it WILL show you ways to battle Satan and step out of the darkness and into the light, onto the battlefield. The road is not easy, it never will be! Are you that comfortable with the life you are leading to continue on with it as if nothing is going on? PLEASE...! read this book for yourself! YOU who proclaim to be Christians! (yes i am talking to you too!) open your eyes! Dr Brown IS sharing Satan's deceptions. Do you really think Satan is going to make her look wonderful? He is the master of lies! Of course people will write reviews saying horrible things to lose her credibility! This IS Satan's world! Do you expect he would do anything less to someone trying to mess up his plan? The road IS NOT easy, just pray and ask God to put you where he wants you. SOOOO! I challenge YOU who are reading these reviews to really pray about what you should do. I can't wait for the day when i can meet Rebecca and tell her thanks for following the Lord! I will be praying for you both, Rebecca and Elaine, for your safety and your relationships to grow stronger for the Lord. Thru you both, God was able to bring me back! (phewww!) Ok enough...(read the darn book) (smile)

This book has been embraced and condemned by diverse sectors of the christian community. I gave it three stars as it is not a literary classic. However anyone who has dabbled, or is thinking of dabbling, or is in fact engaged in the dark arts MUST read this book....it not only gives an account of how a high ranking occultist found freedom after she realised Jesus was bigger than the Devil, but also her struggle to find deliverance.... if you're not serious and only read this just to see what all the hype is all about, the bible clearly outlines that there is a spiritual realm and that very powerful demonic princes influence this world for harm, as they have been permitted to do as a result of Adam's fall from grace.... the Good News is that Jesus' atoning sacrifice and resurrection offer a way out for anyone trapped by sin or even worse, occult forces, either as a willing practitioner, or as someone snared by the wiles of the Evil one.... this isn't star wars... its real life and if you think its a hoax, you need to enquire of the Lord as King David did... and the Spirit will witness to the truth.....

5.0 out of 5 stars Now I Know Why The "J" Word Is Hated, 5 Mar. 2000
For the first time in my life I understand why people into Witch Craft & new Age hate the "J" word. You see if you are into Wicca, at meetings you can mention any name you like, but once you mention Jesus the whole coven comes to a halt. It's obvious that the name Jesus has power behind it. It's so powerful that at the mention of Jesus any spirit summoned retreats or becomes highly disoriented. And this effect does not happen with anyother name you can think of from anyother form of worship. In fact anyother name is welcomed but the name Jesus.
Which means it is only Jesus that can subdue and defeat the dark lord(satan).
This gives the logical conculsion that Jesus is Lord above all.
If you don't believe this you can try mentioning Jesus at the next coven meeting when it's under way and observe what happens.
In most cases the spirits won't let you mention His name Jesus, but they don't mind anyother name.
This book explains why, not only why but also how to defeat the devil and his army of spirits.
I recommend this book to anyone into New Age, Occultism, Wicca and satanism.

We are rereading Dr. Brown's book and are amazed five years after the initial reading how insightful and truth-filled her writings are. some may brush off her comments as unreal--which is the exact response the demonic hopes for! Afterall, who comes to steal, kill, and destroy?

This review is from: He Came to Set the Captives Free (Paperback)
I read this book plus two others. I did not know there was another one out. I want it! I most definitely recommend all of them! To those that oppose it, you are bringing destruction on your own head. No if, ands, or buts about it. End of discussion.

As always, R.B writes very good factual books.
Exposing the enemies devices in order to set us free from the traps that literally everyone is bound in weather they know it or not.
You do not know what life should actually be like until you have been delivered through deliverance ministry. We are all captives before we come to Christ.
