5.0 out of 5 stars Not for the faint hearted
This book is great for the "intermediate" sound engineer. It contains alot of quite technical language so is not for the beginner but once you have the basic technical knowledge its a fantastic tool, especially for trouble shooting and general research.

3.0 out of 5 stars Sound Reinforcement Handbook
This book is quite out of date - it will serve as a reasonable text for anyone studying the basics, but if you've had any experience of sound systems your knowledge will be as good if not better than that contained in the book!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars If you need to know it....its in this book., 21 July 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Sound Reinforcement Handbook (Paperback)
I've waded through several books which claim to be all you need, but this is it. I am a sound engineer for live theatre I haven't run into a problem yet that this book hasn't had the answer to, and in semi-laymen's terms. Gary Davis is my hero.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent and useful book for the beginner., 26 Dec 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Sound Reinforcement Handbook (Paperback)
As a novice in the field of sound reinforcement, I found this book invaluable. It clearly explained the how and why of working with audio equipment, discussed the mysteries of studio equipment specifications, and worked through sample installations and the pros and cons of equipment types. Each chapter held new and useful information, from discussions of the different types of "db"s to the delightful chapter on how to select and solder audio cables. I can't recommend this book too highly.

Excellent book going from the basic to the complex.
Could do with a new edition to bring it right up to date with state of the art systems ? Not a big problem though.

5.0 out of 5 stars A SR Student Must-Have, 29 Oct 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Sound Reinforcement Handbook (Paperback)
This book is a must have for all students in the sound reinforcement industry. As a high school theatre sound tech, this book has saved me from disaster hundreds of times and allowed my performances to sound great. The discussed topics are clear, complete, and through. The information is very useful to a beginner or a seasoned pro. I see this book as the "bible" of the sound reinforcement industry. A must have!
