5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best packs on the market, 19 Jun 2009
This review is from: Tarot of the Old Path (Cards)
This is a great Tarot pack. I have had mine for several years. The imagery and symbolism is beautiful, and is also simple and a good representative of what it is trying to convey. The colours on these cards is light, and the atmosphere created by this pack as a whole is bright and spiritual, not dark or heavy. These cards give good readings for me and there is no need to re-interpret the meanings as I have to on some packs, which makes readings obscure and deep to interpret. A good pack for beginners and professional alike.

4.0 out of 5 stars psychic sharons' opinion, 11 July 2009

great for the advanced reader who has a good understanding of the technical meanings of the cards. They are quite vibrant cards. if taking your time through the reading some of the cards have good images to catch your eye and allow your intuition to come through. The face cards are basic though which is where your technical understanding of the cards is necessary.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality deck for reading or meditation, 12 April 2011
By
This review is from: Tarot of the Old Path (Cards)
This deck has some of the best tarot art work I've seen -- the cards are good quality and handle smoothly. Each one is painted in clean, clear water colours, beautifully executed in fine detail.

The cards in the pictorial Minor Arcana depict men and women in stylised medieval costumes set against white backgrounds. This gives them a light and "airy" feel. The colours reflect the magical values of yellow/swords, blue/cauldrons (although they are depicted as goblets), green/pentacles and red/rods. So far, so traditional.

The symbolism in the Major Arcana leans towards nature based paganism rather than ritual magick and contains some cards that would make beautiful pictures in their own right, particularly The High Priestess and The World. There is nothing here to really upset a traditionalist, although a few cards have been re-named: The Chariot becomes Mastery (the charioteer's four horses representing the four elements); The Hanged Man becomes The Lone Man and The Hermit is The Wise One. The Devil becomes Temptation, and The Moon is Illusion. Temperance becomes The Guide; Judgement becomes Karma, and Death is The Close. The Magician, although he keeps his name, is a horned shaman casting the runes, with his power animal by his side.

Although the box claims this is a tarot of "female energies and wisdom" created with the help of "eight witches, based on the traditions of the Wicca path" you don't have to be a Wiccan, or even particularly feminist, to use and enjoy this pack. It should appeal to anyone who wants attractive "non-threatening" cards ..... in fact you feel that such a pretty tarot could never predict anything unpleasant. You have to look really closely to see any blood on the Ten of Swords!

Use it to read, or as a meditational aid. The symbolic detail in the Major Arcana would repay study by anyone drawn to a nature based path.

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerfully Pagan Cards, 3 Aug 2008

This deck successfully brings together natural images and Pagan symbolism that will appeal to witches, druids and probably others too. Some of the animal images are particularly striking. The deck follows the classical structure of 22 major arcana and 56 minor arcana in the Waite/Crowley fashion. This means there's nothing contrived, like there can be with some decks. the cards will appeal to beginners and advanced readers alike. The incorporation of nature into the symbolism is what makes these cards so special to me. This makes for a powerfully Pagan deck, which somes highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Tarot Card deck, 25 May 2013

As a Wicca and healer I wanted a Tarot deck for readings, this deck picked me and I'm glad it did. The images are gentle and powerful and the colours are beautiful. Some of the names have been changed which was a little confusing at first and some of the interpretations do differ. An excellent deck and ideal for experienced and inexperienced alike.
