This review is from: Reading and Writing the Lakota Language (Audio CD)
An excellent "starter"CD for those wishing to learn and understand the basics of the Lakota language.Primarily aimed at the Lakota effort to redress the years in which 2 or 3 generations of Lakota were deliberately denied their own language and culture in white christian establishments, boarding schools and general education. The CD and book also give insights into the nature and society of the Lakota. The emphasis is on family and relatives, which was and is central to Lakota life
Further this CD has been devised and produced by genuine Lakota speakers and seems to me at any rate to be more of a cultural treasure than a rote learning aid. For those wishing to continue their studies or know more New Lakota Dictionary: Lakhotiyapi-English/English-Lakhotiyapi & Incorporating the Dakota Dialects of Santee-Sisseton Yankton-Yanktonaiis highly recommended
