5.0 out of 5 stars Essential Reading, 25 May 2009
This review is from: Commando Dagger: The Complete Illustrated History of the Fairbairn-Sykes Fighting Knife (Hardcover)
In my opinion this is one of the cornerstone books that could be considered as essential reading for any FSK collector - if a copy can be found!

Detailing the evolution, identification of parts/markings and variations of FSK's, this book does exactly what it says on the tin - provide the reader with an encyclopedic knowledge of these iconic knives.

Each FSK variant is supported by clear black and white illustrations detailing the various idiosyncratic facets of the particular knife in question with descriptive text enabling the reader to identify key markings of each knife.

I found the references to the changes commonly made to these knives `in the field' to be particularly informative and account for why some knives appear different to others and why many scabbards have been `customised.'

An exceptionally well researched and evidenced insight into an iconic piece of military history.
