5.0 out of 5 stars Concise and Compact!, 1 Aug. 2013
This review is from: O'Brien Pocket History of Irish Writers (Pocket Books) (Paperback)
I picked up this little gem while in Ireland and was just checking to see if I could order online here in the states; no surprise Amazon carries it. This book is one of the best little editions I have seen in a long while. It is very well organized and contains a great deal of information which I was thrilled to see contained all in one book. As a Graduate student with intent to teach on the University level this book is perfect for slipping into a daybag, backpack or pocketbook for a quick reference guide. Authors' names are in bold face and their key works are mentioned as well historical and contextual details of their respective works. For the casual reader it is an easy read full of information. For the more serious scholar it is by no means a major textbook but it is certainly an excellent foundation, a starting point, for more in depth research. Either way it is well worth the cost and I am thrilled with my purchase!
