5.0 out of 5 stars Criminal Neglect, 3 April 2012
As a Glaswegian and supposed lover of art I am ashamed to say my knowledge of the Glasgow Girls was minimal at best. Unfortunately, I am not alone in this. Once again brilliant female artists are ignored while their menfolk garner all the plaudits and the reputations. This truly delightful book should be in the vanguard rectifying this ludicrous situation. It ought to be in every art department in the country as an introduction to these wonderful artists. Any teaching of art in general, and the art-nouveau movement in particular, which ignores them is truly guilty of criminal neglect. 5 stars?..it deserves 10!

Glasgow Girls: Women in Art and Design, 1880-1920
This is a beautiful book to have on my shelf, and often enjoyed for all the beautiful art work produced by women in the art nouveau period...it is quite exquisite in content both visual and written. I treasure this master piece. If you love Charles Rennie MacKintosh - then be prepared to blow him out of the water....wonderful

5.0 out of 5 stars Glasgow Girls - an inspiration, 31 Jan. 2011
I was doing research into Margaert Mackdonald Mackintosh and found articles in this book that were really informative. There are many 'girls' in the book that I had not come across before and their work was exceptional especially for the time. The book is full of excellent illustrations - loads in colour.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Glasgow Girls, 19 May 2010
Excellent reference book for information about the women artists. It also includes some detail about the Glasgow boys.
I am secretary to the West Galloway U3A and I needed to research the subject for a talk later this year. It would have been nicer in hard cover, and it would be good if someone produced a DVD of the paintings.

I haven't finished reading this book yet but so far I'm impressed! It gives a fascinating insight into the wonderful creations that women have contributed to the art world, behind the canvas and in front. There are lots of pictures in this book to keep you occupied for hours.
