5.0 out of 5 stars Antonio Gramsci: Life of a Revolutionary, 15 Jun 2010
By
A wonderful biography of Gramsci. It traces his origins from underdeveloped Sardinia, his move to Italy and his imprisonment and slow murder at the hands of Mussolini and his fellow-fascists.
His in-depth study and elaboration of the key concept of hegemony gave greater understanding of the manner in which people are controlled by those in power.
The fascists set out to imprison Gramsci's brain. They failed . Today his Prison Notebooks and earlier writings continue to inspire activists throughout the world.
