5.0 out of 5 stars Firstly I need to say I love wooden boats and have a fascination for their history ..., 8 Aug. 2014
Firstly I need to say I love wooden boats and have a fascination for their history through the designers, builders and the people who ultimately sail them and put flesh upon the individual vessels ribs. This book is no longer in print unfortunately and the original publisher has no intention of another print run at this time. The book traces the history of the Fife family through the three generations of Fifes and covers a few of the yachts built between the founding of the yard and its closure. If you were looking for a book with detailed line drawings of the Fife yachts or Beken-esk pictures you will be disappointed. If you want to learn of the history of the yard, the people who worked there and about each of the Fifes' individual contributions to the yachting world then this is a great read. It jumps around a little in the time line, but it is as close as we will ever get to this wonderful period in yachting history. The appendix in the back of the book lists all of the yachts, boats and ships built during the existence of the yard as well as the plans for yachts supplied to other yards and individuals around the world who wanted a Fife designed yacht.
