3.0 out of 5 stars not bad, not great!, 7 Oct 2002
This review is from: Windows XP Explained (Babani computer books) (Paperback)
As many of the books written on Windows XP suggest, the one problem with the new PC operating system is that it doesn't come with a manual. This book is one of a number on the market which are very much of the the smaller type in terms of both size and cost. In the main, it does the job pretty well covering all the main aspects of Windows XP. Being familiar with earlier versions of Windows (NT, 98 etc) I was able to skip thorugh the book in a few hours. As an overview it is fine but I now find myself struggling with some of the finer details of the operating system (especially User facilities) and the book gives few clues as to what my options are. I suspect I will have to invest in one of the weightier books in order to cover the detail I need. But if you simply need a quick introduction or are unfamiliar with Windows then this may be the one for you.
