lively and interesting cook-book
on 17 August 2013
Street food, or a certain kind of street food, is the latest culinary thing at the moment and there are quite a few books out there to celebrate the fact. There are a couple of things in the introduction to this book which grate slightly, but read on because there is much to interest and entertain, in an informative sort of way, in the rest of the book, not least the level of success some of the vendors are having with their food. There is a good range of food types and recipes to follow that are more traditional than haute cuisine, but this is the real charm of the book: street food is back to our roots, the sort of food that has been eaten and developed over decades or even centuries, continually finding a new twist to whet the appetite. I teach cookery and am very interested in this area of the business, but it is great food to enjoy at home, around the barbecue and in the garden, at the beach and for any kind of picnic, so 5 stars as far as I am concerned. Anyone with an interest in food and cookery will find good recipes to try from amazing porridge to desserts via game, meat fish and vegetables and world foods, all good to eat outdoors and with family and friends.
